Sitting on the sheltered inside bend of Middle Creek, west of Eurimbula Creek camping area, this camping area is set in a beautiful pocket of bushland by the sea, offering the best of both worlds.

Enjoy surrounds of eucalypt woodland, pink bloodwoods, wattle species, casuarinas and weeping cabbage palms as you recline by your tent and breathe in salty sea air.

Perfect for campers keen to cast a line, the creeks are alive with mangrove jack, flathead and many other fish species.

Getting there and getting around

Middle Creek camping area is in Eurimbula National Park, 14km west of Agnes Water, on the Central Queensland coast. You can access this camping area by high-clearance 4WD, boat, canoe or kayak.

  • GPS location is Zone 56J, Easting 376334 and Northing 7331243. Map location is latitude S24°07'35" and longitude E151°46'59".

From the camping area boat ramp, you can launch your small boat (less than five meters long) into the mangrove-lined, shallow waters.

By high-clearance four-wheel-drived

  • From the Agnes Water township, follow Round Hill Road south-west for 10.5km.
  • Turn right into Eurimbula Road and travel 3.4km to the park boundary.
  • Drive 2.3km and then turn left onto Middle Creek Road.
  • The camping area is 12.5km along this road, at the end of a sand track.
  • Read 4WD with care for important information on 4WD safety and minimal impact driving.

By boat, canoe and kayak

  • From the Agnes Water township, follow Captain Cook Drive for 6.6km to the town of Seventeen Seventy.
  • Launch your vessel from the boat ramp outside the 1770 marina, or the beach next to the 1770 caravan park, and follow the Eurimbula sea trail for 14.5km to the camping area.

Caution! Bar crossing into the mouth of the creek is hazardous. Follow maritime safety information for coastal bar crossings.

Opening hours

Middle Creek camping area is open 24 hours a day. Check-in to your camp after 2pm and check-out by 11am on the day of departure.

Camping area features: near the banks of Middle Creek,it is a short walk to the creek and fishing areas. It is possible to launch small boats from this camping area.

Location: central-east side of the park.

Access: the camping area can be reached by high clearance 4WD vehicles or boat. Road access is suitable for off-road camper trailers and boat trailers only. Roads are not suitable for caravans, low clearance 4WD and all-wheel drive vehicles. Read more about the park's access.

Number of sites: open area with no separately defined sites.

Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car.

Camp site surfaces: sand.

Facilities: composting toilets, fire rings.

Open fires: fuel stoves are recommended. Campfires are permitted in fire rings provided, except when fire prohibitions* or fire bans* are in place, but please bring your own clean-milled firewood. Collection of firewood and the use of chainsaws are prohibited.
*Check park alerts before camping.

Generators: Allowed between 8am–9pm; must have a sound rating of less than 65 decibels (2.0Kva).

Essentials to bring: rubbish bags (no bins are provided), insect repellent, clean-milled firewood, gas or fuel stove, food, drinking water, fuel and medical supplies.
