This spacious camping area is shaded by tall manna gums and is close to several great walking tracks. Fill you days exploring the Ridge track, and the Dalrymple and Cascades circuits.

At night, sit around the campfire while the kids spotlight for frogs, owls, phascogales, bats, wallabies, bandicoots, possums and gliders. If you’re particularly quiet, you may see shy red-necked pademelons feeding on the grass on the forest edges.

In spring and summer, listen for the harsh and loud call of great barred frogs as their ‘wark-wark-wark’ fills the still night air.

This park is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, famed for its ongoing geological processes, evolutionary history, and diversity (especially of rare, threatened and endemic species).

Getting there and getting around

The Manna Gum camping area is in the Goomburra section of Main Range National Park, about 175km south-west of Brisbane.

• The camping area is at the end of Forestry Road, 630m from the park entrance.

Getting to the Goomburra section

• The Goomburra section can be reached from both the New England and Cunningham highways.
• From the New England Highway turn off the highway 3km south of Allora onto Inverramsay Road, follow Inverramsay Road, then Forestry Reserve Road east for about 35km to the park entrance.
• From the Cunningham Highway turn off at Gladfield, 25km west of Cunninghams Gap or 13km east of the Cunningham and New England highway junction, and travel 8km to join Inverramsay Road, then follow Inverramsay Road, and Forestry Reserve Road to the park entrance.

Opening hours

Manna Gum camping area is open 24 hours a day. Check-in to your camp after 2pm and check-out by 11am on the day of departure.

Camping area features: Open, flat, grassy area adjacent to Dalrymple Creek and amongst Manna gums that provide ample shade during the warmer months. At the eastern end of Manna Gum camping area is the start of a variety of walking tracks that offer a range of different bushwalking experiences.
Location: East of the Poplar Flat camping area—follow the dirt road to its end.
Access: In most weather the camping area can be reached by conventional vehicles, camper-trailers, caravans and small motor homes.
Number of sites: Open area without separately-defined sites. Maximum of 125 people.
Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car, caravans, camper trailers, (small) motorhomes and large groups. There are no powered sites.
Camp site surface: Grass.
Facilities: Composting toilets, wood barbecues, tap-water and wheelchair accessible toilets.
Open fires: Prohibited except where barbecues are provided (except when fire bans apply). Elevated barbecues and braziers that use heat beads are permitted provided the ground underneath them is protected. Fuel stoves are recommended.
Generator use: Not allowed.
Essentials to bring: Drinking water, rubbish bags, insect repellent, fuel or gas stove and firewood. Read more about before you visit.
